Pran Roy — a distinguished name in Bangladesh’s theatre, television, and film industry — has been captivating audiences and directors alike with his remarkable performances for over two decades. Renowned for his versatility, Pran Roy has excelled across genres—romantic, tragic, and comedic—earning consistent praise for his natural, expressive, and deeply engaging portrayals. His journey in acting began at the Bagerhat Shilpakala Academy’s Theatre Division, where he first explored his passion for performance. Later, he founded “Rudra Nattyadal”, serving as a founding member and key contributor. Upon moving to Dhaka, his first major stage performance came with “Circus Circus”, written and directed by Azad Abul Kalam for the prominent theatre group Prachyanat. After several notable performances with Prachyanat, he joined Desh Natok, continuing his dedication to the stage with numerous acclaimed productions. Pran Roy’s major television breakthrough came through the hit drama “Gohorgachhi”, directed by Salahuddin Lavlu and written by Hafiz Redu, where his portrayal of Los earned widespread acclaim. His performance in Lavlu’s popular television series “Ronger Manush” further cemented his reputation as a powerful and dependable actor. In cinema, Pran Roy made his debut in Shahidul Islam Khokon’s film Lal Shobuj. Since then, he has delivered memorable performances in numerous acclaimed films, including Mollabari’r Bou, Jibon Dhuli, Ghetuputra Komola, Nodijon, Ei To Prem, 60 Patla Khan Lane, Ore Sampanwala, Maya: The Lost Mother, Mukhosh, Megh Roddur Khela, and Ekti Na Bola Golpo. Beyond acting, Pran Roy is also an accomplished painter. A former student of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, he carries a deep-rooted connection to the visual arts. Though his acting career keeps him occupied, he often returns to the canvas to express his artistic soul—continuing to balance both his passions: performance and painting.
