Kaushik Shankar Das is a renowned Bangladeshi director, playwright, and television host, celebrated for his creative vision, storytelling finesse, and artistic versatility. Born in Chattogram, his artistic journey began through a deep passion for music. At the age of just 10, he received his first award for Rabindra Sangeet, later earning national recognition at the National Rabindra Sangeet Conference. Pursuing higher education, Kaushik moved to London, where he studied architecture, combining his structural discipline with a creative sensibility that would later define his directorial career. Returning to Bangladesh, he began his professional journey in journalism—joining the BBC World Service as a news correspondent in 1997, and later serving as Assistant Editor at The Daily Star, one of the country’s leading English-language newspapers. In 2007, Kaushik Shankar Das transitioned to television direction, creating a distinct identity as a storyteller known for emotional depth, nuanced characterization, and aesthetic sophistication. Throughout his career, Kaushik has directed some of the most iconic on-screen pairings in Bangladeshi television—Mahfuz Ahmed & Sadia Islam Mou, Tarin & Nobel, Sumaiya Shimu & Apurbo, Tisha & Sajal, Tarin & Arifin Shuvo, Sohana Saba & Sajal, among others—bringing refreshing chemistry and emotional realism to the screen. Beyond drama, Kaushik Shankar Das has also directed documentaries and web series, serving as an Executive Member of the Directors’ Guild in 2016. Apart from his behind-the-camera brilliance, Kaushik is also a celebrated television host.
